For Sale: Rodania Geometer “Albino” Dial

Up for sale is a rare, rare bird – the “Albino” Rodania Geometer. As I write this in December 2024, there have only been five white dialed Rodania Geometers to surface, with this example being the fifth. The only example that has surfaced in comparable condition was sold at Sotheby’s in 2019 (auction link here) and performed well, selling for ~$17.5K. The ensuing five years have not yielded many additional Albino-dialed Geometers, so I am thrilled to offer this gorgeous example for sale. The watch was purchased from the family of the original owner and has been preserved in excellent overall condition. The buyer of this watch will own not only one of the rarest Geometers, but also the best one that has surfaced to-date. See below for the full condition report:

Dial: White dial has aged beautifully, with no dial damage, pitting, or marking. The lume plots have aged to a pleasant creamy shade and are fully intact with no damage. The dial shade is reminiscent of early white dialed 6239 Rolex Daytonas, in that it is neither metallic nor matte (somewhat of a cross between the two). Singer supplied both dials, so it would make sense that the finish is closely related.

Hands: Hands are correct, fully original, and match the dial patina closely. Interestingly, these “big lume” hour and minute hands have only been observed on one other Albino example, with the other three examples bearing “small lume” hands. Both are correct for the reference, but the big lume hands on this example are more dynamic.

Case: Case has minor scratching and dents, but nothing abnormal for a watch of this age. At a recent servicing, the case and caseback were left alone. The watch has likely been lightly polished at some point in its life, but the case and bezel retain sharp lines and the original shape. Caseback and crown are both correct and original. Crystal is believed to be original and has surface crazing – I chose to leave it on the watch at a recent servicing (it is structurally sound and will not impact the watch’s performance) due to the aesthetics it provides on the wrist.

Movement / Functionality: I just had the watch fully serviced by my watchmaker and it is running / performing to spec. The Geometers featured a Valjoux 72 movement that was adjusted to three positions – something rarely seen outside of Rolex during that era. Winding is smooth and the chronograph functions perfectly and resets to zero. I have not included pictures of the movement below given the fresh service, but can provide them to potential buyers if necessary.

Accessories: None – watch is being sold head-only.

PRICE: $16,500 or best offer, which includes fully insured shipping.
