I have long believed that the 2447 and 3647 references represent the peak of Jack Heuer’s design philosophy, with the 2447N (black dial) being one of the best variations. This watch, in particular, is a second execution dial that featured stubbier hour markers (adorned by a contrasting strip on top) and wider hands with larger lume plots, among other changes. Finding 2447N’s in excellent condition is difficult, which is why I’m excited to present this example for sale. See below for full detail:
Dial / Handset: Black dial is in excellent condition, with only minor lume loss to the plot at 3 o’clock – something that is quite common and can be observed in my personal 2447N example as well. The lume has all aged similarly and reacts correctly for this period when put under UV. Handset is original and correct for the second execution 2447N and in good condition, with matching patina in the hour / minute hand and no cracks or breaks in the plots. Case: The case is in good condition, retaining the sharp and iconic Carrera lines. This example was found in an abandoned storage unit and the case does exhibit surface scratching, as well as a few minor dents. The crown is original and in good shape, while the bottom pusher was replaced at some point. Caseback is in good overall condition. Crystal has some scratching around the edges, but the contrasting inner tension ring is in excellent shape.
Movement / Functionality: Valjoux 72 movement is clean and in good condition with no corrosion or excessive wear, as pictured below. Caseback has a number of service markings, but service history is unknown. The watch winds smoothly and all chronograph functions work correctly / crisply. I have not formally timed the watch and, as always, a service is recommended. The watch is sold as-is.
Accessories: The watch will be sold with the two leather straps shown in the top picture below (both unworn). For an additional price (see below), I am also willing to sell an original Gay Freres “beads of rice” bracelet with generic end links.
