Heuer Autavia 1163 “Viceroy”

We’ve all had those nights, right? Nothing going on, don’t really care about what’s on TV, so you pull up the ol’ laptop and fire up eBay. Sometimes you’re just in the right place at the right time, which was the case with this Viceroy Autavia that was being sold by an antique dealer on the ‘bay. I’d never worn one – had never evenĀ seen one – but for $1,500 it was a worthy gamble. The condition was great, but after a week or so, it was pretty clear that the 70’s cushion cases aren’t for me. Oh well, at least now I know.

The Nitty Gritty

Overall, this was a very nice example of the 1163 Viceroy. The patina is even across the dial and hands and everything is correct for this reference. The bezel also has a pleasant fade to it, which completes the general look. The case retains its original lines and sunburst polishing as well, which is spectacular when viewed from the side.
